White Crane Christian Karate and Kobudo of Littleton, CO strives to provide a friendly community to train in traditional Okinawan karate for self-defense and fitness. It is our belief that students should grow physically, mentally, and spiritually for a well balanced life. We feel that a combination of traditional karate training guided by Christian principles in a family friendly environment provides opportunities for participants to grow in all three aspects.
Where and when can I attend?
Our classes are held on Tuesday nights from 6:15-9:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Ken Caryl Baptist Church located at 8395 W Ken Caryl Ave, Littleton, CO 80120. New students are always welcome.
Traditional karate is divided into three basic skill areas Kihon, Kata, and Kumite. At White Crane Christian Karate and Kobudo, we teach and train in all three areas.
- Kihon are the basic punches kicks and blocks. Each night students practice basic exercises that have been developed over decades in order to develop their bodies.
- Kata are the ancient forms that have been passed from teacher to student for centuries. Each night students practice the ancient katas that have transmitted karate from one generation to the next since its inception. Katas are the heart and soul of traditional karate.
- Kumite is sparring. Each night students also practice sparring techniques designed to help students cope with the rigors of sparring and combat. Kumite involves both controlled one-step sparring and free sparring. Students are required to wear protective equipment when free sparring in a carefully controlled environment.
- In addition, to the three basic skill areas of karate we also train with ancient weapons and tuite (wrist locks).
We are a non-profit class, so all donations help to purchase training equipment; however, we do suggest a $25/month donation to help purchase equipment.
